ufo video pin

laser engraved and hand painted acrylic pin based on the southwest virginia landmark. those of us lucky (or unlucky) enough to visit this iconic video rental place in the ‘90s and early 2000s all have stories of being leered at by creepy men hanging around the back room and wondering why it smelled like cat piss when there was no cat on the premises. it was a truly magical place that, though long abandoned, still stands on the virginia side of the state border with tennessee along a cursed stretch of highway. i drive past it almost every day and since it’s been an important part the background of my entire life i wanted to commemorate the sign. i made a pin for myself at first, but other people wanted one as well, so here it is.
i engrave and paint these myself in my home workshop in small batches. as they are entirely made by me each pin differs slightly. they measure about two inches long and have two tie tack pins on the back to keep them extra secure. i’ve had one pinned to my tote bag which takes a beating in my daily travels for months now and it’s holding up well.
